Sub-merchant creation using the PayFac Sub-merchant API

Use the following information to create sub-merchants via the PayFac Submerchant API.

• PayFac Account Number

  • PayFac must use their own account numbers when creating sub-merchants through the PayFac Sub-merchant API.

• Mandatory and Optional Fields

  • The statement descriptor is mandatory and must be provided by the PayFac during sub-merchant creation.

  • Other fields such as account name, processing currencies, and sub-merchant ID are optional.

• Processing and Settlement Currencies

  • The PayFac Sub-merchant API allows sub-merchants to be created with a processing currency different from that of the PayFac.

  • When the PayFac specifies a processing currency in the request, the sub-merchant account will be created with:

    • The settlement currency inherited from the PayFac.

    • The processing currency defined in the PayFac Sub-merchant API request.

• Account Enablement

  • A PayFac can use the PayFac Sub-merchant API only if it's own account is enabled.

  • Sub-merchant accounts created through the API are automatically enabled and inherit all properties from the PayFac account.
