Sub-merchant Creation via Clone API

PayFac Account Number

• PayFacs must use their own account number when creating sub-merchants through the Clone API.

Mandatory and Optional Fields

• ​​​​​​​The statement descriptor is mandatory and must be provided by the PayFac during sub-merchant creation.

• Other fields such as account name, processing currencies, and sub-merchant ID are optional.

Processing and Settlement Currencies

• ​​​​​​​The Clone API allows sub-merchants to be created with a different processing currency than that of the PayFac.

• When the PayFac specifies a processing currency in the request, the sub-merchant account will be created with:

  • Settlement currency inherited from the PayFac.

  • Processing currency as defined in the Clone API request. 

Account Enablement

• PayFacs can use the Sub-merchant API only if their own account is enabled.

• Sub-merchant accounts created through the API are auto-enabled and inherit all properties from the PayFac account.
